Follows SR-150 from Kamas to the Wyoming border. To Kamas: I-80 east, exit 146 toward Heber. US-40 exit 4 toward Park City/Kamas. Left onto UT-248, left onto UT-32, and right onto SR-150. One of the most popular mountain routes in Utah and Wyoming. Starting in farm and ranch lands, it rises to forested terrain accented by meadows and rugged mountain peaks. There are scenic viewpoints, picnic areas, campgrounds, and access to many of the 400 lakes found in the Uinta Range. At Upper Provo River Falls (24 miles from Kamas) you can view terraced cascades from walkways near the road. The byway climbs to 10,687 feet at Bald Mountain Pass, descends past Mirror Lake (a fee area) then to Bear River Ranger Station. From here the byway follows the Bear River—the longest river in the western hemisphere which does not flow into an ocean—and continues on to Evanston, Wyoming. Heavy snowfall in winter closes the byway to car traffic, but it remains open for snowmobiles.
