Founded in 1976, the Salt Lake Symphony is one of the areaâ??s most highly respected volunteer driven orchestras. The Salt Lake Symphony is a non-profit organization dedicated to performing quality classical music concerts for the Wasatch Front community. The Symphony performs around 15 concerts per year. The approximately seventy-five hard-working musicians of the SLS volunteer roughly 10,000 hours annually to accomplish this goal. Although the members of the Salt Lake Symphony come from all walks of life and frequently work full-time in other professions, they hold one thing in common: They play for the love and passion of music. Their dedication as volunteers sets them apart and creates a unique bond.
Utah Voices is a community choir focused on producing concerts that are actually fun for the audience â?? their motto is â??no boring concerts!â? Members don't audition to join the choir, but commit to a level of musical excellence that offers concert-goers fun, exciting, memorable and inspiring concert experiences. Founded in 2009, Utah Voices is the culmination of the dreams and united vision of a dedicated group of individuals who are passionate about making music. Members of Utah Voices love to sing and commit voluntarily to the group. The singers vary in skill from no previous choral experience to substantial vocal training. Every month, the Utah Arts Alliance opens its doors to visual artists in the community, through the â??Connectâ? Program. Connect offers the rare opportunity for artists to showcase their work to the public each month, as well as begin the process of establishing themselves in the SLC art community.
At Connect, visual artists (painters, sketch artists, photographers, sculptors, mixed media, and culinary artists) are able to submit work for public showcase, vote for their favorite works to be entered into Urban Arts Gallery and December Connect, and hear from established artists and organizations on the subject of art.
Connect is pretty straightforward. Be sure to read the following information, before coming out:
Connect is a visual arts gallery. Unfortunately, unless you are able to bring your work the night of and take it with you, the night of, we cannot accept it. Also, it must be art that can be viewed at the pace of a patron. For example, no short film, dance, or live music can be submitted. Connect is FREE. A submitting artist can bring up to 3 pieces of their work.Connect is open to the public.When voting, it is polite NOT to vote for your own work.It is recommended that artists bring a 1 paragraph bio/artist statement with their work.Artists who attend regularly should PUSH THEMSELVES to bring AT LEAST one new piece, each month.We do not presently validate parking at the Gateway.Please read the program schedule! Art at the Main Gallery, featuring only Utah artists will exhibit garden interpretations at the Red Butte Garden Visitor Center Art Gallery. The exhibit will include paintings created in oil, water color, acrylic, collage, and will include pieces sculptured in glass and clay.
