Red Butte Outdoor Concert Series: Earth, Wind and Fire

During the 1970’s, a new brand of pop music was born, one that was steeped in African and African-American styles but appealed to a broader audience. Maurice White, founder and leader of Earth, Wind and Fire, embraced and helped bring about this evolution of pop, “Although we were basically jazz musicians, we played soul, funk, gospel, blues, jazz, rock and dance music… which somehow ended up becoming pop.”

 The Capitol Preservation Board is pleased to host the Sixth Annual Movie Under the Stars. Each year, we team up with the Utah Film Commission to screen free movies on the southwest Capitol lawn. Thousands of people of all ages gather with blankets and picnic dinners to enjoy the evening air, beautiful views, and great movies!

FREE Admission!

Mark your calendar with the following dates:
Friday, July 18 – The Lone Ranger (filmed in Utah!)
Friday, Aug. 1 – The Lego Movie
Friday, Aug. 15 – Despicable Me 2
Friday, Aug. 29 – Frozen
