10 Great Weekends - Days of '47

With events throughout the month of July, the annual Days of '47 celebrates the arrival of the first pioneer settlers to the Salt Lake Valley. Two of the most popular events are the annual parade (one of the nation's largest) and the rodeo.

Highlights for this year include:

• All Horse Parade
  July 18, 2013
  Horses of all breeds are showcased for the public as Sandy City welcomes the All Horse Parade. This is a great parade to show admire and appreciate beautiful horses, hard work, spectacular carriages and exceptional wagons!
• Union Pacific Youth Parade
  July 20, 2013
  In just a few blocks, you will see marching bands, creatively decorated floats, performing groups and, of course, several thousand children having a grand time.
• Family Festival
  July 20, 2013
  At the end of the Youth Parade route, participants and spectators will find free activities, games and attractions for hours of family fun, while learning important principles of safety, service, prevention and cultural diversity. This is an opportunity to learn while you play.
• Days of '47 Rodeo
  July 19, 20, 22, 23 and 24, 2013, 6:30PM
  Bring your hat, the kids and your enthusiasm! The Rodeo is a must-see event. As the state's oldest by a hop, skip and a jump you'll be impressed by the cowboys and cowgirls who compete from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Don't miss your chance to see those nationally-ranked champions while they ride, rope and rough it for our Rodeo's great prize money.
• Days of '47 KSL 5 Parade
  July 24th, 2013
  The parade traverses the streets in downtown Salt Lake City beginning at 9:00 am. For a new adventure, bring the kids, the sleeping bags and the hot dogs downtown on the evening of the 23rd. You can camp out on Salt Lake City streets along the parade route. This is the biggest sleepover your family and friends will ever experience! Remember to bring enough water to keep everyone hydrated.
