Small plates, regional American, or fine dining? Putting a category on a restaurant like The Copper Onion is difficult, but one thing is for sure, it is delicious. Located next to Broadway Centre Cinemas in downtown Salt Lake, providing a dinner and movie experience unlike anywhere else in the valley.DSC06324The Copper Onion is named after two very prevalent resources of Utah, and owner/chef Ryan Lowder utilizes many local farmed ingredients throughout the menu, showcasing the best that Utah has to offer. The menu highlights fresh, seasonal ingredients of the highest quality to provide diners an incredible meal at affordable prices. What is most important is that your mouth will be delighted by the rich flavors and fresh ingredients in every dish. The menu consists of "small" plates which are anything but small, plentiful main dishes, and sides that will make you think twice of what a side-dish can be. Everything I have tried has exceeded expectations. Something as simple as a dish of brussel sprouts or broccolini becomes a taste sensation when prepared in The Copper Onion's kitchen. I highly recommend the braised lamb riblets and the pasta e verdura, two incredible dishes, and an incredible value for the size of the portion and quality of the meal.

Perfect spot for people who really love food. Very impressive as a date spot, as the atmosphere is elegant yet approachable. If you are a Food Network junkie, get a spot up at the chef's counter and watch your meal come together right before your eyes. All the excitement and comedy of the kitchen is a great addition to an incredible meal.Reservations are suggested, evenings and weekend are especially busy, but this is a dining experience that you must try. Full bar available. Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and weekend brunch.
