Lucky 13, serious burgers for casual dinersNick Johnson - July 26, 2010 at 7:38AM
Burger and a pint. A perfect combination that hits the spot any time. Make it a great burger, topped with house-smoked bacon, and you have got Lucky 13. It is a great little casual bar and grill that takesits food seriously, and sits right next to our Salt Lake Bees home field (Spring Mobile Ballpark). The menu revolves around the burgers, with a few other pub favorite snacks like fried pickle spears, jalapeno bottlecaps (popppers), onion rings, and grilled cheese sandwiches. They even have a garden burger for those not eating meat. Each Lucky 13 burger is made from a 7-ounce, never frozen, ground chuck patty. It's hard to pass up adding bacon, which is smoked on site, each day. A basic burger is full of flavor and stands completely on its own, but it's hard to pass up great options like their Breath Enhancer ($7.50), with roasted garlic and cheddar cheese, or the Bacon Stinky Cheese ($8.50) topped with gorgonzola. If you have a really big appetite, or really crave the spicy, this is the place. The Big Benny ($15), made with four 7-ounce patties and cheese or the Lucky 13 ($15) which is two 7-ounce patties topped with jalapenos, habaneros, squeezed between two grilled cheese sandwiches for buns.A visit on a Sunday morning or afternoon means you can enjoy their affordable and giant portions brunch menu. A $7.50 breakfast sandwich can easily fill two people, and the other dishes are just as impressive. Sit out on the shaded patio and enjoy great food while sipping on your favorite beer or bloody mary.Open 7 days a week, Sunday Brunch from 10am-1pm. Open daily from 11am-2am, kitchen closes nightly at 11pm.Lucky 13135 West 1300 SouthSalt Lake City801-487-4418Read more from Nick Johnson at Salt Lake City's examiner.com.
