With Thanksgiving less than a week away, there's no denying that the holidays are here. Holiday events get underway in Salt Lake this weekend, and from here on out, it's six weeks of non-stop shopping, eating, decorating and celebrating right up until New Year's Day! The Gateway shopping center in downtown Salt Lake kicks off the holidays this Saturday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. with its annual "Light up the Night" celebration. The event features an appearance by Santa Claus and a free concert by popular musician Peter Breinholdt. The mouse and the boy from the Salt Lake Acting Company's upcoming production, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, will also be on hand to greet fans of the classic storybook. What are you and your family doing to celebrate the holidays? It's wonderful to spend time at home during the holiday season, but music, theater, community events, light displays and dining out also make the season special.
