2009 Ski Salt Lake ShootoutFebruary 25, 2009 at 4:43PM
After last year's successful Ski Salt Lake Shootout, the athletes and photographers have once again assembled to the Wasatch Mountains, specifically the resorts of Brighton, Solitude, Alta and Snowbird. We are now two days into the competition and already there are a couple of video posts, athletes climbing trees, hiking for turns at Snowbird and the crashes. Hey, a photo shoot isn't complete without a wipeout, just like a Warren Miller film isn't complete without a segment of beginners crashing all over themselves and the lifty trying to help them off the lift. This one is likely not to be published, so we're giving it some air time. The Competition The competition consists of five categories: Powder, Big Mountain, Air, Mountain Lifestyle and City Lifestyle. Each photographer/athlete team will spend one day shooting at each Cottonwood Canyon resort (Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude) over the four days of competition. Category winners receive a $1,000 prize for their achievement, with the grand prize winner taking home $2,000 and an invitation to return for the 2010 Ski Salt Lake Shootout. Check out the video from day 1 and day 2.
