This Is The Place Heritage Park: Much More Than A Monument

Published: 05/14/2009

- A Visit Salt Lake Connect Pass Attraction -

Salt Lake City (May 2009)-This Is the Place Heritage Park is located at the base of Emigration Canyon where the Mormon pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. The Park has preserved the rich history of how the Salt Lake valley was settled by those early settlers, and is one of the many attractions included in the Visit Salt Lake Connect Pass.

Visitors quickly discover that the Park is much more than a monument. In addition to monuments, This Is the Place Heritage Park includes more than 40 original and replicated historic structures, all part of The Heritage Village. The Village is rich with the history of the earliest Mormon pioneers. Included with admission is a guided tour of the entire Park via train. Guides explain the significance of each structure and tell stories that make the Village come alive. The Village includes homes, a blacksmith, the original ZCMI Center and much more.

This Is the Place Heritage Park is ideal for all ages and interests, from the working blacksmith to the ‘Transcontinental Train Ride.' The Park also hosts many special events such as day camps for children, birthday parties, weddings and candlelight Christmas. The Park is a unique piece of Salt Lake and of American history.

The Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau is a private, non-profit corporation responsible for the promotion of Salt Lake as a convention and travel destination.
