Squatters marries beer and wine at airport Ale House

Leaving on a jet plane? Arrive early at the Salt Lake City International Airport so you can try Vino Volo Ale House, a new concept that brings together Utah’s Squatter’s Pub Brewery and Vino Volo, a boutique wine shop located in 13 airports across the country.

“It’s the perfect marriage of the wine world and the beer world,” said Squatters co-owner Jeff Polychronis.

Customers at Vino Volo Ale House, located in Terminal 2, can purchase several different artisan beers made in Utah — not just Squatters — as well as wine by the bottle, glass and in tasting “flights.” Breakfast is available anytime along with a lunch and dinner menu.

Liquor laws are different at the airport, so it’s one of the only places in Utah you can get a drink at 8 a.m., added Polychronis. (Squatters still has its 12-year-old airport pub.)

Vino Volo Ale House is just one of several dining options with Utah ties that have opened at the airport in recent weeks including Cafe Rio, Greek Souvlaki, and Millcreek Coffee Roasters.
