Salt Lake CVB Promotes Mack to V.P. of Services

Published: 10/14/2006

The Salt Lake CVB recently announced the appointment of Michael Mack to Vice President of Services, a new position responsible for overseeing the consolidation of all CVB service departments: convention & client, visitor and membership. The CVB’s service departments are largely responsible for the myriad of awards bestowed upon the organization over the years, including induction into the Meetings & Conventions Gold Awards Hall of Fame this year for earning the publication’s Gold Service Award no fewer than 12 times, and being named a 2006 Top 25 Planners’ Choice Winner by Meeting News. Additionally, the SLCVB received Corporate & Incentive Travel magazine’s 2006 Award of Excellence, an award "selected by their subscribers who voted for the bureaus that best served their meetings and/or incentive programs."

Upon graduating from Brigham Young University, Mack served as Deputy District Attorney for Utah County prior to taking over as Executive Director of the Utah Valley CVB in 1990. Mack then began his 10-year run at the Salt Lake CVB as Director of Convention Services followed by his promotion to Managing Director of Convention & Client Services. Of the awards and accolades received by the SLCVB’s service departments during his tenure, Mack credits the staff’s hard work and sincere interest in making each visitor’s stay, whether in Salt Lake for business or pleasure, a wonderfully memorable experience.

The Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau is a private, non-profit corporation responsible for the promotion of Salt Lake as a convention and travel destination. Salt Lake is a unique fusion of metropolitan city and quaint mountain town; the towering Wasatch Mountains that embrace Salt Lake offer a dramatic backdrop to the vibrancy and activities of downtown. Having recently undergone a $58 million expansion, the Salt Palace Convention Center now boasts 679,000 square feet of exhibit and meeting space, ideal for groups of all sizes and needs.
